Pause

This is something really unusual. A carton of ice cream on my dining table.

The fact that it’s amazingly good ice cream is almost irrelevant when you realize just how rarely something as sweet and fatty and sinfully delicious as this enters our house. When my mom announced its arrival, I actually assumed it was free because I could not imagine her purchasing it just for kicks. But there’s a first for everything.

Other things with which I filled my time today include playing lots of Bruch, eating lots of eggs, and re-learning the value of the properly timed pause from this. Aah, I’ve been playing the Saint-Saëns and working that opening to death for like six months, and then about five seconds of some YouTube video shows me how it’s done. Why is playing music so damn hard?

I’m guessing you rarely get Ice-Cream At Your House.
